NENGARHAR/KABUL -- Afghanistan's first honey
processing plant has begun operations in eastern
Nangarhar Province, RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan
reports.
The plant will enable Afghan honey farmers to sell
their product outside of local markets.
Officials told Radio Free Afghanistan that Afghan
honey recently appeared at an international exhibition
in India and garnered lots of attention for its high
quality.
About 15 people are working in the factory, which
is currently producing about 400 kilograms of honey
per day.
The project to establish the plant was funded by
the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID). |
