Nowroz Festival. Also, there will be special performances
by Timor Jalali and DJ Wassi. The event will be held again

Latif Nangarhari
Afghan singer Latif Nangarhari will be
putting on a concert on Friday night, September 2, 2011 in
Fremont, California. Doors will open at 8 pm and the show
is scheduled to start at 9 pm. The concert will be held in
the Marriot Hotel (46100 Landing Parkway, Fremont, CA
94538). Tickets should be available at all Afghan stores.

2011: Trailer for new Afghan show on Tolo TV - The
Ministry
Many are calling this new show on Tolo TV
the Afghan version of the hit western show, The Office.
The Office was a hit on both British TV and American TV.
The show follows the everyday life of the workers at the
Ministry of Garbage and it is shot in what appears to be a
single-camera setup. The characters address the camera
directly, as if being interviewed - just like The Office.
The show's main character, Dawlat, is a bumbling fool, but
sympathetic, just like The Office's Michael Scott
(American Version).

- Haider Salim and Hangama in Concert Together
Afghan singers Haider Salim and Hangama
will be be holding a concert tomorrow (May 29, 2011) in
Anaheim, California. Haider Salim is from Afghanistan's
1970s music era, and he has still maintained his
popularity throughout the decades. Hangama won the Best
Female Singer award in November 2008 at the ATN Awards.
Doors will open at 7:30 pm and the show is scheduled to
start at 8:30 pm. The show is presented by Idol
Entertainment.

Afghan singers Naim Popal and Jawaid
Sharif will perform in Pleasanton, California (USA) on Sunday,
April 24, 2011 in the 7th annual NowRoz festival. The
event is scheduled to be held in the Pleasanton
Fairgrounds, doors open at 11 am, and the program will start
at 2 pm. According to the event organizers, "this year's NowRoz Festival will also include drama and game show,
Afghan atan, carnival, and soccer games."

2011- Farhad Darya named Afghan person of the year
Farhad Darya
Popular Afghan musician Farhad Darya was announced Radio
Azadi's "Person of the Year" today because of his
"exceptional dedication to promoting music and cultural
tolerance throughout the country." The award was presented
to him at a press conference in Kabul.
"Farhad's songs carry a powerful message of peace and
reconciliation," said Radio Azadi Director Hashem Mohmand.
"And he performs everywhere, even in volatile regions
where the Taliban and other extremists are still very
hostile towards music."
Besides his career in music, Farhad Darya also serves as a
United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Afghanistan.
