Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi

Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi is the current head of the Wolesi Jirga.

Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi was born in 1962 in the province of Kunduz. Once he had completed his high school degree in Kunduz, he was accepted to Kabul University, in their Languages and Literature department. He waived the opportunity to attend university to join the mujahedeen in fighting the Soviet Union. After the Soviets left Afghanistan, Ibrahimi held different jobs, until being selected the commander of the border police in 2002. In 2005, he was elected to represent Kunduz province in the Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of Parliament, and then moved up to speaker of the house in 2010. At the same time as his professional obligations, Ibrahimi is finally pursuing his Bachelors degree in the Languages and Literature Department of Kabul University.
