Khyal Mohammad Mohammad Khan is an Afghan politician.
Khyal Mohammad Mohammad Khan was born in 1957 in Ghazni province and is an ethnic Pashtun. Mohammad Khan has been an important senior member of the Hezb-i-Islami political party. In 2005, he was elected to represent Ghazni in the Wolesi Jirga, or the lower house of Parliament. In Parliament, he headed the Committee on Dispatches and Communications. He attempted to run for President in the 2014 election but was unsuccessful. Later, he joined Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s campaign as his 1st Vice President, running against Ashraf Ghani. When Ashraf Ghani was announced as the winner of the elections, Mohammad Khan remained with Dr. Abdullah and became his first deputy when the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position was created for Dr. Abdullah. The CEO position was created as a compromise to prevent a potential parallel government being setup, and possibly, the division of Afghanistan. Dr. Abdullah’s campaign had alleged and even provided evidence that Ashraf Ghani only won the elections as a result of massive fraud.
