Biography of Mohammad Akbar

Former Minister of Refugees under President Hamid Karzai. On May 10, 2007, the Wolesi Jirga voted to remove Akbar with a no-confidence vote by a 136 to 54 margin in the 249-seat body. He was heavily criticized for his lack of preparation in assisting the thousands of Afghans forcibly expelled by the Iranian government.  The Iranians claimed these Afghans were illegal refugees.
