Mohammad Sarwar Danish is an Afghan politician. Mohammad Sarwar Danish was born in 1961 in Ishtarlay District of Daykundi province, into a Hazara family. Danish went on to complete his higher education in Iraq, Syria and Iran, where he obtained degrees in law, journalism and Islamic studies. He obtained a Masters in fiqh, which is the Islamic study of Jurisprudence. He has authored 15 books and 700 academic essays, and is fluent in Pashto, Dari and Arabic. Danish was chosen to participate in the 2002 Loya Jirga to draft the new Afghan constitution. From March 2004 to December 2004 Danish was the Governor of Daykundi, from December 2004 to January 2010 he was the Minister of Justice, then from January 2010 to September 2014, he was chosen to be the Minister of Higher Education, all under President Hamid Karzai. Danish is now currently the 2nd Vice President under President Ashraf Ghani.
