Sameera Nasiry

Sameera Nasiry is an Afghan singer. Nasiry was born in Kabul on October 17th 1995. During the internal wars in Afghanistan between the various mujahideen groups, Nasiry lost her father, prompting her family to relocate to San Diego, California. She took music classes in high school, always showing a key interest in singing. Now, as a college student, she continues her study of music. Nasiry garnered attention after her first single “Yaar Jani” (written and composed by Omar Kakar) and it’s subsequent music video. In 2014, she won “Best New Female Artist” at the ATN (Ariana Television Network) Awards.

In a 2015 interview with MTC (Melli Television Channel), Nasiry named Ustad Farida Mahwash and Ahmad Zahir as a couple of her favorite Afghan artists that she looks up to and admires their work. Interestingly, in the same interview, she named President Ashraf Ghani as someone who she most would like to have dinner with. Her official Facebook profile page states that she enjoys, and is pursuing acting and modeling. Her current record label is RJ Studio.
