December 11, 2011: Afghanistan loses in football but wins in cricket After dominating many of the teams and making it to the final match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup, Afghanistan lost to India 4-0. They believe this paved the way for an unfair Indian victory. In good news, Afghanistan defeated Hong Kong today in Nepal by 8 runs to once again win the Asian Cricket Council Twenty20 Cup. Afghanistan scored a total of 125 runs (in 19.5 overs), the biggest contributors being Golbodin Naib with 57, followed by Mohammad Nabi with 24. The Afghans kept Hong Kong restricted to only 117 runs ( in 19.2 overs). The star of the game and the winner of the man of the match award was Hamid Hassan. See Scorecard. |
